Snakes of Texas

Join us for the June installment of the Friends of LLELA Saturday Lecture Series. The event is free with your $5/vehicle paid entry into LLELA. Space is limited, so registration is required. Contact Lisa Cole, Education Coordinator, at 469.635.5481 or to reserve your spot. Our speaker will be local snake expert Chuck Swatske.

  • Learn about snake species indigenous to North Texas.
  • Find out how to identify Texas snakes and see range maps which will show which snakes you will see in Denton and surrounding counties.
  • Learn what you should and shouldn't do if you are in the field and someone is bitten by a venomous snake.
  • Discuss and dispel many snake myths, and learn how to talk with people about what is true and what is not.
  • Discover helpful resources to help you learn about Texas snakes.
  • Observe live native snakes.
