Join the Dallas Fly Fishers for an introduction to fly fishing. Learn to cast, tie basic fly fishing knots, tie flies and discuss the various types of flies, review equipment, learn about aquatic ecosystem health, and more. Participants will learn all the basics of fly fishing in preparation for the winter and spring fishing season.
This is a free class with a $5/vehicle admission fee (cash or check only). Participants will need: warm clothing, eye protection (glasses), a hat, sun protection, and drinking water. There will be a lunch meal available on site for a $5 donation, or bring your own lunch. All fly fishing equipment is provided. The class is open to anyone age 12 years and up. The skills taught will satisfy some of he requirements for the Boy Scouts Fly Fishing Merit Badge, and all participants will receive the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Basic Fly Fishing Certificate and pin.
Dallas Fly Fishers (DFF) is a non-profit club of about 150 members that has been active in the Dallas Area since 1972. DFF sponsors education and conservation events for the public, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other youth groups. Fly fishing classes are taught by club members who have years of fly fishing experience and are experts in the skills that they teach.
