All normal LLELA facilities and activities are available as of noon on May 18!

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the maintenance work at the outlet ahead of schedule, and we are now open for fishing, camping, and other activities as normal. However, the water level in the river is still low. Check the release rate at the Lewisville Dam before you come, if you are counting on water in the river. Normal flow is 120-250 cfs, anything less is pretty dry.

  • Introduction: Step back in time when you visit the historic Minor-Porter Log House. Visitors of all ages are welcome to tour the log home, smoke house, and dugout.

 Step back in time when you visit the historic Minor-Porter log house. Visitors of all ages are welcome to arrive at any time during the open house. You’ll get a feel for pioneer life as you tour the log home, smoke house, dugout, and homestead grounds. Knowledgeable docents will add to your experience. You may even be able to try your hand at a craft from the 1870s. Open houses are on the third Saturday of each month except July and August. *Entry to LLELA Nature Preserve is $5 per vehicle, cash or check only. Season passes are available.
